THE SEARCH

Over 800,000 Pennsylvanians don't have access to reliable internet,
and they deserve to be seen.

DESCRIPTION

This project was a campaign geared towards educating and encouraging people living in rural
Pennsylvania to advocate for broadband access in their local communities. My role as the sole
designer was to create a brand identity and animate a PSA/short video as the main deliverable.

“The Search” tells a story of a man struggling to find a source of light.

When he finally finds a lamp, his world is completely changed.

When the light dies out, he returns back to being alone in the dark.

We are left with a message about the importance of broadband in allowing people to feel connected to their communities.

PROCESS
This project was inspired by an article by a Pennsylvania native with a calm humdrum life that struggled to feel connected to his community because his town does not have access to reliable broadband. Character design inspiration was taken from the real life counterpart as well as simplistic artstyles like that in Soul (Pixar), creating a character that was recreatable enough for an animation with a tight time frame as well as still engaging and relatable to the audience.

SUPPORTING ASSETS
Several physical branding assets were created in order to support the campaign, such as things that can be handed out at various places with the goal of spreading awareness.
